What is partner channel metering?
A clearer path to compliant metering
Intellihub’s partner channel metering team helps energy retailers coordinate the installation and connection of smart meters. We give accredited service providers (ASPs), electricians and builders a single point of contact to manage metering connections, backed by field and technical expertise. You handle new connections and meter exchanges for single and multi-site projects, with end-to-end support throughout.
From regulatory applications to service orders and installation, the partner channel metering team manages the complexity so metering jobs move forward without unnecessary delays.
Direct installation with fewer errors and less rework
For ASPs, electricians and builders, metering is rarely just a meter installation. It involves retailer processes, customer consent, installer accreditation, scheduling and compliant close-out. When these steps are handled manually, projects slow down and rework increases. This matters more now as smart meter deployment accelerates across the National Electricity Market (NEM) wider industry reform focuses on installation, defects, data and power quality.
How it works
Intellihub partner channel metering delivers
-
Onboarding and accreditation
We help ASPs, electricians and builders get ready to work with Intellihub through an efficient onboarding process that includes field and remote training. Our experienced team provides ongoing support and guides partners on how metering work is raised and completed within our operating model.
-
Application and retailer coordination
We raise metering requests to retailers on behalf of builders, electricians and ASPs. We monitor progress, follow up on service order status and help reduce delays caused by missing information, retailer process variations or incomplete submissions.
-
Work order allocation and scheduling
Once a retailer creates the service order, we help ensure the work order is allocated to the right ASP or Registered Electrical Contractor (REC) and oversee customer notifications. For alteration work, we coordinate customer consent for the proposed date before the job is dispatched to the technician.
-
Field completion and support
Installers are supported from the start through to job completion with field tools and SME technical support, including guidance on the latest regulatory changes. We also help customers understand job status, close-out requirements, and what needs to be submitted after installation, so work can be completed correctly.
Who this is for
Who Intellihub helps
Utilities
Reduce cost and complexity across installs
For energy retailers and metering providers, our partner channel metering service can improve efficiencies and reduce complaints, making for better customer and contractor experience. Rather than coordinating every appointment through a separate field visit, utilities can work through ASPs and RECs already engaged on the job.
Intellihub manages the retailer workflow, service order progression, installer dispatch and compliance support. Our partners complete primary work such as switchboard upgrades and fuse replacements, helping enable new smart meter connections.
This is for you if:
You’re an energy retailer wanting to improve installation efficiencies, reduce coordination efforts and be supported with a controlled delivery model for new connections and alterations.
Businesses
Keep projects moving without metering delays
For builders, developers, and electrical contractors, our team helps align metering with construction milestones. Nominated ASPs or RECs can complete metering alongside other electrical works, while Intellihub handles meter requests, retailer coordination and work order flow. This reduces administrative overhead and avoids disruption to site sequencing, which matters for new homes, alterations and staged developments.
This is for you if:
You’re an ASP, electrician or builder wanting to complete projects on time with fewer delays and clearer job visibility.
